Bethany Borowsky

Financial Planner

Bethany Borowsky joined Athena Wealth Strategies in 2017 working with an array of clients ranging from early career to mass affluent individuals. Her experience in the financial industry includes positions as a Paraplanner, Client Relationship Manager, Business Development Director, and Financial Planner. Bethany’s diverse background in finance makes her uniquely qualified to work with clients as an advice-based planner and wealth management advisor. In 2019, Bethany became a partner in Maritza Roger’s practice.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Santa Clara University, and uses the insight she developed through her interest in economic theory to individually analyze optimum financial strategies for each of her clients.

Q. What is your greatest talent?

Debating. I will deliberate over a question until I’m confident that I have truly found the best answer. Because of this, I become absorbed in projects and examine every angle and detail to identify counter-positions to my initial assumptions. I’m always willing to adapt and change my approach or stance on a matter depending on the information that I find. I believe that a broad perspective and adaptability are very important skills to have in all aspects of life and are especially applicable to financial planning.

Q. What is your philosophy about financial planning and investment strategy?

Most people have strong feelings about money and matters regarding the allocation of their resources. Often these ideas are based on personal philosophies rather than situational economic realities. In such cases, it is necessary to examine and identify the rationale behind personal preferences to ensure that a sound investment plan is formulated to accommodate our clients’ financial needs in a manner consistent with their sense of obligation to society and themselves.

Q. What is your approach to working with clients?

Some people initially feel uncomfortable discussing their financial situations. Letting clients know that I understand their concerns and allowing them to be part of each step of the planning process helps mitigate these worries. The more knowledgeable clients are about their investments, the more comfortable they will be in honestly assessing and communicating their needs and goals.

Financial planning starts with a discovery of your fears, values, and goals and all those parts are the foundation of your financial plan. Financial planning is an experience that you go through to clarify where you currently are, evaluate options to get you to where you need to go, implement the right strategies for you, and protecting that plan so it does not get derailed if something goes wrong. Financial planning is a process and making sure you have a process in place to allow you to adjust your plan consistently is just as important as the initial plan itself. Our commitment to you is to focus on the ongoing process of your plan.

Q. What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy painting and spending time outdoors with my dog. We both love the beach and take every opportunity possible to escape to the coast.
